The Sons of Morning, the most powerful empire on earth, draws near the cusp of total imperial domination, and as the Supreme Emperor is about to seize victory, he assigns three of his most trustworthy warriors, Karikoga, Gabriel, and Shohiwa, to conquer Montroy—the last remaining autonomous nation in the world. The three highly gifted, but inexperienced warriors, embark on their quest as the swords of the Emperor. But for Karikoga and his brothers, there is more struggle in them than they realize, as their first mission will test their abilities as Kai, and involve them in a turning-point war that may cost their lives. But little does Karikoga know that, as he enters the campaign with his brothers, his destiny will change, forever.

Meanwhile, a former, renowned clan lord during The Great Wars of Old, Murray, allies with the Black Dawn, a deadly, quasi-mercenary faction of hardened, elite soldiers, and consults with their genius commander, Marla, regarding strategies to thwart off the empire’s invasion. But Murray is conflicted with The Path of Darkness and The Narrow Road as he worries about the safety of his daughter, Marla, who happens to be his closest war ally. And Murray grieves over his grandsons, Karikoga, Gabriel, Shohiwa, and Michael who turned from the Narrow Road and joined his brother Empower Milo. However, Murray soon uncovers a deadly scheme from Milo that is so dreadful that it will unleash a doom worse than death upon mankind and all existence if he doesn’t stop it.

As this is happening, a young, fierce, and compassionate journalist, Dhibha, battles with the visions of her past as a strange sickness worsens inside of her. But one day, her city, Montroy is besieged by the empire, and she goes through much trauma as she fears for her loved ones and experiences peril which awakens something in her…something that has been slumbering for years.
